Backlight
The light source built into a laptop LCD panel. Without it, the image is produced but invisible under normal lighting. A backlight failure means your screen looks completely black — but if you shine a torch at an angle, you can faintly see the desktop image still there. This is one of the most common display faults and usually means the display assembly needs replacement.
