Steps to Restore Your MacBook Battery to its full Potential

We understand how frustrating it may be when one of your electrical gadgets refuses to switch on when you need it to. However, what if your MacBook’s battery dies at the worst possible time? Apple’s laptop range is attracting an increasing number of consumers these days for various reasons. Whether they’re utilizing it for work or just turning it on to watch their favourite movie, there’s always something they can do with it. And when it fails to turn on, that’s a problem.

Fortunately, several procedures may be taken to restore regular operation. The more complicated ones are there in case the simple ones don’t work. Let’s take a look at the actions necessary to get you back on track!

Is the MacBook charged?

Make sure your MacBook is still switched on as the first step. If the battery runs out of power, it will not turn back on, regardless of how many times you wish it would. In this instance, locate and plug in your charger. On most contemporary chargers, you’ll be able to monitor the charging progress. For instance, an orange light indicates that the it is charging. This means your MacBook is ready to go and should start up on its own when the power button turns green.

If your charger does not function properly or does not produce an indication light, you may choose to locate a backup charger from an Apple Store. While the official Apple brand is suggested, licensed third-party brands may also function. If you’re still unable to provide power to your computer, go to the next step.

Make sure That No Additional Peripherals Are Connected.

If, for some reason, you still do not hear the MacBook’s startup chime, check to see if it is linked to anything else. Whether it’s anything as simple as a mouse, a printer, or a USB hub, you’d be shocked at the problem it can cause turning on. Disconnect all devices and verify that the item is fully charged.

Additionally, if you just upgraded your computer’s RAM or hard disk, this may contribute to the problem. To determine whether this is true, try reinstalling the prior version and see if it helps. If the prior version runs smoothly, restore the previous state.

Safe Boot and Power Cycle

Now is the time to do a power cycle. If you don’t hold the power button down to switch it on or off, this mechanism will restart your MacBook or MacBook Pro. The cycle is initiated by pressing the power button for 10 seconds. Usually, after a few seconds, the power is turned off. However, if it is already turned off, this will assist in cycling it. After that, push the power button again and listen for the chime.

If this does not work, you may alternatively boot into Safe Mode. This is accomplished by pressing the Shift key while hitting the power button to turn the machine on. Once there, you’ll be able to conduct a series of tests to determine if your MacBook has an internal problem. After that, you may restart the computer, and it should turn on.

Battery Issues

Another possibility is that the MacBook battery is faulty. While this is unlikely to occur (Apple typically constructs these units for longevity), it is not impossible. If such is the case, you may want to watch for warning indications. If you can turn on your machine, you may check the status of the battery under Battery Preferences. This may be accomplished by navigating to the Apple Menu, System Preferences, and selecting either Battery or Energy Saver, depending on the model.

You’ll then see a screen similar to this:

You may experiment with different battery settings to see if anything drains the battery. For instance, if you have the brightest settings, this may use a significant amount of energy. Reduce the brightness to 75% unless you operate in a dimly light place for some reason. (Night owls, we’re looking at you). Additionally, you may experiment with “low power mode” and “automatic graphics switching” to see if these solves your power concerns.

Another option to check is Battery Health, likewise included in the system settings. It indicates if a battery is in excellent condition (Normal) or whether it needs replacement (Service Recommended).

After all this, if you continue to lose power or see symptoms that your battery may fail, you may contact Apple. They’ll either send you to an officially licensed repair shop or schedule an appointment at their local Apple location after going through a few stages.

Having AppleCare+ is a significant bonus in this case. Otherwise, a battery replacement would cost between $129 and $199, depending on the model. Review such plans as soon as possible since they may include provisions that assist you in the circumstances like these.

When Adversity Strikes, Repair

Assume it is not the battery, and you continue to have power difficulties. What are your options now? There are two possible outcomes.

The first step is to repair your MacBook. We understand that you simply want it to switch on and start working. However, if the preceding techniques fail to turn it on, you don’t want to resort to harsh measures like connecting a vehicle battery and trying to “jump” it. (Note: this should NOT be attempted).
