SketchUp Pro + Rendering Plugins — Hardware Guide
SketchUp Pro’s own viewport is OpenGL-based — any consumer RTX card handles it smoothly. Hardware demands escalate significantly when adding real-time rendering plugins like Enscape or V-Ray GPU. For Enscape specifically, RTX GPU with ray tracing is required for photorealistic walkthroughs.
RTX 3060 12GB handles large architectural models smoothly. GPU-driven OpenGL viewport stays fast even with complex geometry.
Enscape uses RTX ray tracing for real-time photorealistic rendering. RTX 3070 or above recommended for smooth live walkthroughs.
V-Ray GPU rendering uses CUDA. RTX 3080 10GB gives best performance for complex V-Ray scenes with many textures and lights.

Does SketchUp Pro need a special GPU?
No — SketchUp Pro uses OpenGL for its viewport and works with any consumer RTX or AMD card. No certified workstation GPU is required. Our RTX 3060, 3070, and 3080 builds all run SketchUp Pro smoothly.
Which build is best for Enscape real-time rendering?
The RTX 3070 build is the recommended minimum for smooth Enscape walkthroughs. Enscape uses RTX ray tracing which benefits from higher VRAM and RT core performance. For large urban models with many assets, the RTX 3080 build provides a smoother experience.
Can I run SketchUp and Revit on the same machine?
Yes — many architects use both. Running them simultaneously is RAM-intensive. With 16 GB (base configuration) you can run one at a time comfortably; upgrade to 32 GB to run both open simultaneously.
Is Lumion supported on these builds?
Lumion is very GPU-intensive and recommends RTX 3070 as a minimum for 4K scenes. Our RTX 3070 and RTX 3080 builds support Lumion well. Note that Lumion is one of the most GPU-demanding rendering applications — the RTX 3060 may struggle with complex 4K scenes.
How long does a build take?
