WHAT IT IS

Dota 2 is a 5v5 MOBA running on Valve’s Source 2 engine, and one of the longest-running competitive games in Southeast Asia. Its graphics load is modest, but the simulation load isn’t — dozens of units, illusions, summons, and spell effects in a 60-minute game push the CPU hard. That’s why laning-phase FPS is always high and teamfight FPS is where cheap PCs fall over.

Why does my FPS drop in teamfights?

Teamfights multiply the number of units, projectiles, and effects the CPU must simulate every frame. If your GPU usage drops while FPS drops, the CPU is the bottleneck — lowering graphics settings won’t help much.
