LAPTOP REPAIR GLOSSARY / ARGB
ARGB (Addressable RGB)
A lighting standard where each LED in a fan or strip can be individually controlled — producing flowing colour effects, animations, and full sync with your motherboard’s software.
ARGB VS STANDARD RGB
| ARGB (5V 3-pin) | Standard RGB (12V 4-pin) | |
|---|---|---|
| Per-LED control | Yes | No (whole strip one colour) |
| Animations | Yes | Limited |
| Voltage | 5V | 12V |
| Connector | 3-pin | 4-pin |
MOTHERBOARD SYNC SOFTWARE
Most ARGB headers on motherboards sync with the manufacturer’s software — allowing all fans, strips, and accessories to animate together:
- Asus Aura Sync — for Asus motherboards
- MSI Mystic Light — for MSI motherboards
- Gigabyte RGB Fusion — for Gigabyte boards
- ASRock Polychrome — for ASRock boards
