Monster Hunter Wilds PC Requirements: Why Your CPU Matters More Than You Think
Monster Hunter Wilds has the most misleading spec sheet of any recent AAA game — not because Capcom lied, but because of one line of fine print: the official recommended spec targets 1080p at 60 FPS with frame generation enabled. Frame generation inserts AI frames between real ones, meaning the actual rendered rate on that spec is closer to 30–40 FPS. If you buy exactly the recommended hardware expecting a crisp native 60, you’ll be disappointed.
The second surprise: Wilds is unusually CPU-heavy. The RE Engine simulates monster herds, weather systems, and NPCs across seamless open zones continuously. Plenty of players with strong GPUs and ageing quad-core CPUs found their graphics card idling at 60% while frame rates struggled.

Wilds punishes lopsided builds. A used RTX 4070 paired with an old i7-7700 will bottleneck badly; a balanced i5-12400 + RTX 3070 runs noticeably smoother than a mismatched "better" GPU. When we spec Wilds machines:

Should I use frame generation? If your base frame rate is 50+, it feels great. Using it to drag 30 FPS up to "60" adds latency and artefacts — that’s the trap in the official spec.
Is Wilds heavier than Black Myth: Wukong? Differently heavy — Wukong mostly stresses the GPU; Wilds hits CPU and GPU together, which is why balanced builds matter more here.
